COBB COUNTY

Formed in 1832, Cobb County was originally part of Cherokee County and was named after Judge Thomas Willis Cobb, a U.S. Senator. According to 2007 Census estimates, it is the fourth most populous county in Georgia as well as the fourth most populous in the 10-county Atlanta region. At 340 square miles, Cobb ranks 81st (out of 159) in the state in area and fourth in the 10-county region. Given its relatively small size, Cobb is the second most densely-populated county in the state, behind only DeKalb.

Cities

Cobb County is home to 6 incorporated cities.  Marietta is the county seat.  Other cities within the county are Kennesaw, Smyrna, Powder Springs, Austell, and Acworth. 

Shopping & Recreation

Cobb County, being one of the most densley populated counties, has so many shopping and recreational facilities that you will rarely need to look for anything outside the area.  Two major malls are located within the county.  Town Center Mall, located off Interstate 75 & Barrett Parkway, is home to many national retailers and restaurants.  The mall is anchored by Macy's, JCPenney, Belk, and Sears.  Cumberland Mall, the oldest mall in Cobb County, has recently been renovated and is located at Cobb Parkway and Interstate 285 in Marietta.  Cumberland Mall is anchored by Costco, Sears, and Macy's and is home to wonderful restaurants including PF Changs, Cheesecake Factory, and more!

With 43 parks, recreation centers, and other related facilities, Cobb's park system is one of the Southeast's largest. There are also 8,800 acres of federally owned park lands in Cobb County including Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park and the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area. Two other of the state's top attractions are found in Cobb: White Water Park and Six Flags Over Georgia.
